RECENT TRANSACTIONS
  • Currently acting as Ugandan counsel for an international bank on an EKN (Swedish Export Credit Agency) supported term loan facility and a commercial loan facility to the government of Uganda of approximately US$ 255M.
  • Acted as Ugandan Counsel for Advance Global Capital on its proposed US$ 4,000,000.00 financing of a leading receivable financing company with operations in Uganda, Kenya and Netherlands. The transaction involved a complex due diligence, preparation of share pledge and security advice, and regulatory advice in light of the new Ugandan law that entailed a change in the proposed structure.
  • Acted as Ugandan Counsel for an international Export – Import Bank on the legality and enforceability of counter guarantees issued by itself with respect to facilities extended in Uganda.
  • Acted for the World Bank through its Long Term Finance Division on the legal, tax and regulatory regime for the set – up of a debt infrastructure fund and issues of project bonds.
  • Advised the Islamic Development Bank (iSDb) on the legal and regulatory analysis of sovereign debt issuances by the Government of Uganda.
  • Advised FACTS East Africa BV, a leading receivable financing company in East Africa on the regulatory and compliance requirements under the new promulgated Tier 4 Microfinance Institutions and Moneylenders Act.
  • Advised Mango Fund Inc. a leading impact financing company in Uganda on its ongoing operations and financings to company’s in Uganda.
  • Advised a sponsor of a 7MW Hydro power project in Western Uganda on a USD48M project financing from DFI’s and an energy fund based in Mauritius.
